Crystal Bowersox sings from the place where blues and gospel reside. She melds blues, country, folk and rock, and she probably could have been a torch singer in a different era. She placed second in the ninth season of American Idol, where she belted out “Midnight Train to Georgia,” “Me and Bobbie McGee,” and the song that brought many—including herself—to tears, “People Get Ready.” Don't label her, though. She's also an actress and will play the role of Patsy Cline on Broadway.
