Fri, June 17, Adrian Bourgeois/Ricky Berger
The Refuge, 7 p.m., $5-$7
Sacramento singer-songwriters Adrian Bourgeois and Ricky Berger are a package deal these days—traveling together on a co-headlining tour across the lower 48. Now, the two pop musicians are back for a hometown show that highlights their polished, road-tested sound. The young Bourgeois has long mastered a Beatlesque sound that’s classic but never derivative, while Berger, she of the quixotic retro vibe, crafts bluesy folk-jazz tunes that are sweet, quirky and smart—think Joni Mitchell channeling Ella Fitzgerald on the comedown from a sugar high. Musical Charis and Autumn Sky round out the bill. 1723 L Street, www.adrianbourgeois.com.
