She’s one of the best of the blue-eyed blues singers, and right now Janiva Magness is getting well-deserved raves for her latest album, The Devil Is an Angel Too. This is traditional, smoky-toned, rock-styled blues, and Magness manages to put a bit of a country edge in her voice as well. But don’t dismiss her blues cred—she’s only the second woman to win the B.B. King Entertainer of the Year award. The first was blues legend Koko Taylor.
