With every breath he takes between each verse, bandleader Jesse Elliott must take a moment to realize how fun it is playing the music These United States makes. Their just-released fourth full-length album, What Lasts, is a continuation from the sound for which they are known. The fourth track on the album, “The Great Rivers,” certainly has that swallow-your-heart-in-every-breath type of sound. They get the job done with talented musicians, vocals that have similarities with Tom Petty or possibly Jim James of My Morning Jacket.
