Fri, July 29, The Tubes
Thunder Valley Casino Resort, 8 p.m., $19-$29
Back in the day, the members of the Tubes were a bunch of high-school friends from Arizona who moved San Francisco in the early ’70s. There, they started kicking out punk prototype jams on songs such as “White Punks on Dope,” from the band’s self-titled 1975 debut. The band also crafted both smart and catchy satirical rock songs and rambling performance-art pieces. These days they’re playing the nostalgia rock circuit and bill themselves as the Tubes featuring Fee Waybill and are probably best known as that ’80s band that did “She’s a Beauty.” Not a bad gig if you can get it. 1200 Athens Avenue in Lincoln, www.thetubes.com.
