Fri., July 19, Art Lessing and the Flower Vato
Luigi's Fun Garden, 8 p.m., $5
When artists throw around words like “psychedelic” to describe their sound, it's hard to predict exactly what that means: sitar-drenched rock? Slow, droning metal? Flaming Lips-esque pop? Art Lessing and the Flower Vato's music is mellow—kind of a jazz-rock hybrid—and loosely stitched together, yet held together with a standard 4/4 beat. They also have some truly out-there stuff that's highly rhythmic and seems to be more like odd sonic experiments, utilizing atypical instruments, such as dulcimers and xylophones. 1050 20th Street, Suite 150; www.reverbnation.com/artlessingandtheflowervato.
