Fri, Jan 29, Crimson Sky
Club Retro, 8 p.m., $10
Crimson Sky is a popular band name used by musicians all over the World Wide Web. The name possesses the vagueness-meets-visual quality necessary for all aspiring bands. Plus, the sky can turn crimson just about anywhere in the world. Sacto’s Crimson Sky is a young six-piece vying for the title of best local underage band. Lead singer Bonnie Childs sounds like Evanescence in a Mandy Moore movie. They also give each member a moment to shine: dominating drums, ripping guitar solos and intricate keyboard displays. Other vague-meets-visual band names that will battle it out Friday: Absolute Zero, Critical Limit and Necrosin. 6521 Hazel Avenue in Orangevale; www.myspace.com/thebandcrimsonsky.
