Fri, Feb 19, Phallucy
Blue Lamp, 9 p.m., $8
The past 12 months have been chock-full of unexpected band reunions. So without further ado, another ’90s band to reunite under the banner of the new millennium: Phallucy. Quick history lesson: Formed in 1989, Phallucy was a kind of alt-rock Jane’s Addiction-type outfit, but with heavier flourishes. Founded by Sonny Mayugba and David Garcia, members included Deftones’ Abe Cunningham, who played on the band’s 2001 release, Valium. This Friday, Phallucy will feature Rob Armstrong, Joe Senda, Team Sleep founder Todd Wilkinson, drummer John Taylor, Dominic Garcia and, of course, Mayugba and David Garcia. Red Tape will open. 1400 Alhambra Boulevard, www.myspace.com/phallucypalace.
