I’m not sure what people expect when they hear the words “classical guitar,” but this Friday in Davis, anticipate something very different from the 20 or so original compositions to be performed as ensembles by students, including Matthew Grasso (pictured), from San Francisco’s Conservatory of Music. As a former classical guitar student of five years, my teacher, Sacramentan Brandon Yip, once studied at SFCOM and used to perform a wild, intoxicating six-string interpretation of the Edgar Allan Poe short story “The Fall of the House of Usher.” Not your run-of-the-mill Andrés Segovia.
