Fri, Dec 3, Paramore
Arco Arena, 7 p.m., $39.50-$45
Hopelessly sentimental and heavy-handed, B.o.B.’s hip-hop hit “Airplanes” sucks all the verve out of a gifted rapper. But the worst part might be the chorus. Paramore vocalist Hayley Williams, stretches a ridiculous metaphor well past the point of tolerability. Expect Williams to perform the turgid hit when Paramore stops by Arco this week. That mishap aside, Paramore has come into its own as a rock-radio staple. With her smoky confidence and strange but unmistakable sex appeal, Williams is the group’s most alluring asset. But its recent album Brand New Eyes reveals a band that thrives at constructing tight choruses and precise power-pop riffs. 1 Sports Parkway, www.paramore.net.
