Here’s a band that could only hail from California. Los Angeles-based four-piece the Tender Box’s latest EP sounds like big Britpop rock, skews West Coast alt indie, has a dash of mod—and the lyrics are in Spanish. If that’s not original, well, originality is pinche muerto. Anyway, the band hails from the same SoCal burg as Cypress Hill, but sounds nothing like obnoxious stoner rap. Instead, think alternative rock with a hint of ’80s new wave and post-punk, some indie attitude and, again, mind you, en español.
