Fri, April 22, Buddy Guy
Mondavi Center, 8 p.m., $17.50-$58
“I still know how to have my fun,” blues legend Buddy Guy sings on “74 Years Young,” displaying vigor on last year’s Living Proof. It earned his sixth Grammy award, testimony to Guy’s astounding vibrancy. Raised in Louisiana, he fell enthralled by Guitar Slim’s showmanship and B.B. King’s smooth hand. Guy moved to Chicago in ’57, and though he had some success, he had to wait until the mid ’80s to receive his proper due. “A lot of guitar players won’t be honest with you,” he humbly explained. “Everything you see me do, I got it from somebody else.” 1 Shields Avenue in Davis, www.buddyguy.net.
