Fresh off—and on—the boat
Now that Capital Stage’s final show on the Delta King has closed (the company is moving to new digs at 2215 J Street for its next season), the troupe is saying farewell with a one-night-only cabaret show featuring local artists. Wendy Cooper, Ian Cullity, Tony D’Juan, Maggie Hollinbeck, Martha Kight, Kelley Ogden, Katie Rubin, Eric Wheeler and the company’s producing director Jonathan Williams will perform in a benefit to raise funds for the ongoing refurbishing of the former armory turned black-box theater. It’s this Sunday, July 24, at 7 p.m. in the Paddlewheel Saloon on board the Delta King; tickets are by donation (they’re suggesting donations of $20-$100) and reservations are suggested. Call (916) 995-5464, or reserve via email <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">{ document.write(String.fromCharCode(60,97,32,104,114,101,102,61,34,109,97,105,108,116,111,58,98,111,120,111,102,102,105,99,101,64,99,97,112,115,116,97,103,101,46,111,114,103,34,62,98,111,120,111,102,102,105,99,101,64,99,97,112,115,116,97,103,101,46,111,114,103,60,47,97,62)) } </script>. And never fear, the stage at the Delta King will not go dark. We heard this week from Gary Winterholler, the producer-director of a new company called Sacra-Melo, which will be doing parodies and melodramas in the theater. Watch this space for more information.
