Forest for the trees
The dichotomy between the organic shapes and textures of nature and the sharp lines and slick surfaces produced by man is abundant in the artwork of Steven Florman. Using scraps of wood and welded metal, the San Diegan, who is an architect by trade, creates sculptures that both revere nature and bleakly reflect opposable-thumbed bipeds’ relationship to the natural world in this collection of work he calls The Immoral Forest.
