Shoes: While most guys don’t care, as long as the damned things are comfortable, women seem to form a deeper connection with their footwear. Paula Wenzl’s current exhibition at the Barton Gallery, All Dressed Up, features representations of fabulous shoes, including pumps of the “intercourse me” persuasion, along with other items people use to transform themselves for an evening of the “file under: swanky” variety—lipstick, perfume, bow ties. In the same space, Cari LaZansky’s show Sacramento Women features black-and-white photographs of a number of, well, you won’t find any pix of Peja Stojakovic here. The Barton Gallery is located at 1723 I St., next to Michelangelo’s; it’s open Wednesday through Saturday 12 p.m.-6 p.m.; for information, call 443-4025. Through November 7.
