Food truck mayhem

A Food Network-style culinary competition has been underway at Sacramento breweries this summer for the second annual Fantasy Food Truck Showdown. Presented by Beers in Sac, the tournament has already seen two rounds of food truck chefs preparing dishes based on mystery ingredients for hungry, beer-guzzling crowds. An added curveball? The dish must also pair well with a certain local beer. The finale takes place from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, August 19 at Yolo Brewing Company (1520 Terminal Street in West Sacramento) between Cali Love Food Truck, Cecil’s Taste Food Truck and Voyager World Cuisine. If you care about the standings, those trucks beat Dojo Burger, the Pasta Queen and North Border Tacos. There’s no cover to enjoy the spectacle, but you must pay to eat: $25 for five small plates and a beer or $15 for three small plates and a beer. More at www.beersinsac.com.
