Food Stuff

Been feeling a little tired lately? Maybe it’s all that spring wind and pollen, or maybe you’re just not getting quite enough caffeine. You can remedy the latter problem this Saturday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Midtown’s hip Infusion, which is hosting a “Night of Specialty Coffee.” It’s a benefit for fair-trade farmers and Coffee Kids (www.coffeekids.org), an organization that helps the children of coffee growers. For $15 at the door or $10 in advance, you get to see (and taste) specialty-drink demonstrations. You’ll also find hors d’oeuvres and dessert, fair-trade beans to take home, live music, and coffee education. Most alluring and mysterious of all, perhaps, is the promise of live latte art, in which espresso is poured skillfully through foam to create ethereal designs of leaves and more. It’s an art just as ephemeral and considerably more delicate than that hoped-for caffeine high. 1628 K Street, (916) 442-8889
