Fluffy and proud of it
Sacramento has its share of celebrities—the Kings, Magnolia Thunderfinger, Jewel (the zoo’s hippopotamus, not to be confused with the maudlin poet/songstress) and all the divas who sing at The Townhouse on weekends. Nonetheless, it’s not often that the Night & day section gets to report on actual Hollywood celebrities in the manner of E! TV, Entertainment Tonight, or some other fluffy pseudo-news program with little relevance to anyone’s actual life. This week, however, the SN&R calendar proudly joins the media trend of blatant star worship by promoting the local screening of Narc and its attendant cinematic celebs. The film, which stars Ray Liotta (Hannibal, Goodfellas) and Jason Patric (Rush, Lost Boys), enjoyed a sell-out debut at this year’s Sundance Festival and is soon to be distributed by Lion’s Gate. The local screening of this gritty murder mystery will feature a live Q&A with Liotta, Patric and director Joe Carnahan. Tickets are $25 and proceeds benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. One show only, Saturday at 7:15 p.m., at (where else?) The Crest Theatre, 1013 K St. Call 442-7378 or visit tickets.com for more information.
