Fleet Foxes

Sun Giant

Fleet Foxes, a recent addition to the Sub Pop roster, has garnered accolades from Pitchfork, Spin and numerous blogs. The Seattle folksters seemed a bit chagrined at the attention they’ve received, according to their MySpace blog (they’ve nicknamed themselves “Ruiner of Worlds”). However, the “hype” is simply because they’ve created undeniably dulcet songs. Their EP Sun Giant features an amalgamation of folk, pop, baroque and ’70s sounds. Song structures are based around soaring harmonies, lush melodies and instrumentation with lyrics about nature. The roundelay “White Winter Hymnal” is their most addictive ear heroin to date, but is only available at www.myspace.com/fleetfoxes until their LP is released this summer.
