I was super stoked that venerable local punk act the Secretions were going to have their CD launch party this weekend at The Shire Road Club, a forthcoming and brand-spanking-new all-ages venue on Auburn Boulevard, located in the old Embers building. I think it’s great that my favorite local strip club will now be a safe haven for young ’uns looking for a good (music) time. And now, fond memories of strippers kicking beer on my lap in a room with an aesthetic not unlike my grandpa’s living room circa 1982 will soon be fond memories of local bands unleashing all kinds of sonic goodness—and I won’t have to throw dollar bills at them. Unfortunately, Shire still is working out electrical issues, so the Secretions’ new album, Greasy Hot Meat Cheezy, will drop at Kennel Club instead—but the show will still be all ages. No champagne room, however.
