Finally, a great slice
In response to my complaint about Sacramento pizza, Mark M. from Granite Bay kindly suggested Celestino’s New York Pizza and Pasta. I tried two slices—a Tom Jones (Canadian bacon, pepperoni, sausage and mozzarella) and a cheese. I also tried a calzone with mushrooms. The slices were exactly how I remember New York pizza—creamy cheese, sweet sauce and thin crust that’s crispy and slightly chewy. The pizzas were greasy, but so is New York. The slices were the best I’ve had in California, hands down. The calzone was a watery mess, but I’m going back to Celestino’s for the pizza anyway. 6160 Stanford Ranch Road in Rocklin; www.celestinospizza.com.
