Film for thought
February 27Ai Weiwei in Focus
Ai Weiwei’s political activism alone warrants the world’s attention. His criticism and investigation of the Chinese government’s human rights violations have been important. But Ai Weiwei is also a significant contemporary artist who’s known for his documentary films, visual arts and stunning architecture. This Saturday, prepare for a deep discussion about Weiwei, screenings of his films and an engaging chat with art critic Jeff Kelley about Weiwei’s art and activism. Kelley will also field questions from the audience. Oh, and while you’re there, check out the current related exhibit Ai Weiwei Circle of Animals. $15-$20; 2 p.m Saturday, February 27, at the Crocker Art Museum, 216 O Street; www.crockerartmuseum.org.
