According to drummer Rick Lotter, things are quieting down for Mumbo Gumbo, the popular combo for which he keeps time. Late fall and winter means far less outdoor bookings, and the kind of musical stew Mumbo Gumbo provides works well in an al fresco setting. Still, one of the better opportunities to see what this band does best will happen this Saturday, November 24, at the Palms Playhouse, 726 Drummond Ave. in Davis. Two sets are scheduled; the first, at 7 p.m., will be tailored for a seated audience, the kind that can appreciate the songwriting prowess of Tracy Walton and Chris Webster. For the second set at 9:30 p.m., chairs will be removed and legs will most likely be shaken, which is to say that the atmosphere will be decidedly more festive. Admission for each set is $15.
