Fast-meal fix
Wondering what to make for dinner tonight? I asked Conni Levis—co-owner, with her brother, of Midtown’s Tapa the World and the busy mother of three boys, ages 13, 10 and 7—about her fast weeknight staples:
1. “I take a tri-tip, throw it in a pan and dump in Very Terry Marinade—it’s really good marinade with sesame seeds in it, and I get it at Trader Joe’s—and throw it in the oven for half an hour. With a salad and crusty bread, I’ve got a meal.
2. “Another one we always have is taco night. I grew up in San Diego on Mexican food. I rely on whatever meat is left over in the fridge, shred some cheese and lettuce, and throw it on the table with tortillas for a quick meal.”
3. “Something we have almost every week is sausages—you know, that genre that’s popular now, like Aidells. I grill them and serve with mustard, a salad and, always, some crusty bread.”
