Extreme
The IMAX camera follows a number of “extreme” sportsmen and -women as they engage in various daring and breathtaking activities: surfing the 40-foot waves at Waimea Bay, climbing a sheer cliff in Utah, scaling a spectacular glacier in British Columbia, and so on. The scenery is astonishing, brilliantly photographed. Still, for all their obvious discipline and courage, people must be a little, well, nuts. Their own comments boil down to a variation of: “When I’m out there, man, it’s like, I mean, wow, it’s just so, y’know, intense.” The musical score, a compilation of rock and New Age songs, is intrusive and irritating.
