Tired of shows with just one science nerd to invent every device and solve every problem while the other characters get all the action? Welcome to Eureka. In this secret town, founded by the government to give the best and brightest room to work in peace while creating top-secret technology, “accidents” are apt to disrupt the space-time continuum. When a U.S. marshal and his angsty teen daughter stumble into town, it turns out he’s the sheriff they really need. It’s sci-fi with a sense of humor that shows some respect for scientists. The show’s site offers special “webisodes,” as well as special made-in-Eureka tech gadgets. If those aren’t reasons enough to watch, Eureka’s Pentagon liaison, played by Pam Grier-dead-ringer Salli Richardson-Whitfield, will tip the scale.
