Enslaved
Teatro Espejo's production of Rubén Amavizca-Murúa's play is sharp-edged, emotional and difficult to watch as it tells the story of a woman abducted and trafficked from Mexico for sex work in the United States. Featuring Yesenia Lopez, Berman Obaldia, Ruben Oriol-Rivera and Gladys Imperio-Acosta, it includes graphic descriptions of violence, off-stage sexual violence and a forced abortion. Representatives from WEAVE and My Sister's House are in attendance with information about local programs, and the goal is definitely education rather than entertainment. F, Sa 8pm; Su 2pm. Through 9/7. $12-$15. Teatro Espejo at the California Stage, 2509 R Street; www.enslaved.brownpapertickets.com.
