Embrace freebies

Cesar Chavez Plaza is like a gift that just keeps on giving. Concerts in Park had its last hurrah for the year August 14, but the End of Summer Fest is like the reincarnation of the beloved concert series: same location, same day, same time, same price—free. The concerts will continue through September 18 and feature acts such as Agent Ribbons, Mike Farrell, the Nickel Slots, Th’ Losin Streaks and more. And just when it seemed Cesar could give no more, the Sacramento Outdoor Film Festival will feature free films through August. And these aren’t the kind of films students are forced to watch in biology class when there’s a sub. We’re talking Best in Show, which will screen Saturday, August 22, and Spiderman, which will show Saturday, August 29. OK, so maybe you’ve seen them a million times. But they’re free. So get your ass down to the plaza.
