Didley Squat, emerging from the brush after a short trip through John Malkovich’s brain.

Calling all you young Jetsons: Didley Squat, one of this town’s more energetic new-wave revivalist combos, is on a pretty good Thursday (October 21) bill at Old Ironsides, at 1901 10th Street. The show starts at 9 p.m., will set you back $7 to get in and also includes Giant Squid, Frienemy and the B-Sexuals. The Squat’s trebly, over-caffeinated Mr. Science rock should be just the thing to get you through Friday. And if your tastes run toward more rootsy fare, the same venue offers Deke Dickerson & the Ecco-Fonics the following night (Friday, October 22). That show, with local country-music sensations the Arlenes—just back from a U.K. tour—begins at 9 p.m.; cover’s $9.
