Electronics, wasted
With the plethora of new environmentally friendly products to buy, there’s been a noticeable rise in e-waste from our old gadgets. A United Nations-backed study recently reported that less than a third of the world’s metals have a recycling rate of more than 50 percent. One way to increase our metal-recycling rate is to make sure that our e-waste recycler isn’t just trashing our e-waste. We can make sure this doesn’t happen by checking if our e-waste recyclers pass the test of responsible recycling (R2), e-Stewards or Recycling Industry Operating Standards. Visit http://e-stewards.org and www.thinkgreen.com for local e-waste recyclers.
