Eight Gigs: Xochitl
Sat., June 4, 8 p.m., Shine, $7
Though 23-year-old singer-songwriter Xochitl was a toddler during the heydey of ’90s and early-aught singers like Natalie Imbruglia and Shawn Colvin, and she cites more contemporary artists like Jason Mraz and Sara Bareilles as primary influences, that coffee-shop-songstress vibe of decades ago seems to have reached her through osmosis in her early years. The Sacramento native’s songbird vocals match equally sweet lyrics, and the April release of her latest EP, What I’ve Become, shows ever-expanding promise. Samantha Sharp and Lauren Crosby open up the show. 1400 E Street, www.xochitlofficial.com.
