Eight Gigs: Would-Be Train Robbers
Fri., April 28, 9 p.m., Fox & Goose, $5
Would-Be Train Robbers is a modern day tribute to past decades of the blues, punk and the complexities of psychedelic rock. Although WBTR are commonly associated with glam rock and proto-punk (think: the nerve of T. Rex paired with the rich guitar tones of Johnny Thunders of the New York Dolls), this three-piece group takes the best elements associated with the genres and amplifies it without the glitter or the tight pants. The band’s music is raw, punchy and filled with full-bodied arrangements that transport listeners to a time when rock music was king. 1001 R Street, www.facebook.com
