Eight Gigs: Would-Be Train Robbers
Fri., Dec. 11, 9 p.m., Old Ironsides, $7
Sure they would be train robbers, but who wouldn't, under the right circumstances? Let's focus instead on what they actually are, which is a loose, loud, bare-bones rock 'n' roll trio. They have swagger and attitude, and harken back to the early '70s glam rock/proto-punk era of T-Rex, Bowie, '70s-era Stones, the Stooges, New York Dolls and a million other too-cool-for-school rock 'n' roll bands. The group has been around in various forms for a decade, but things are just starting to get cooking. It has a debut LP coming out this Friday on Mechanical Bull Records and is already planning for a second. 1901 10th Street, www.wouldbetrainrobbers.com.
