“That’s right—you’re frickin’ powerful,” funk bassist and frontman Tony Glaser shouts to the crowd in a live performance of his song, “Don’t Suck (Be Cool).” He turns to the guitarist, and they proceed to get funky. The crowd cheers and wildly waves their arms. By the end of the song, everyone is getting down, and Glaser declares he has converted them all to optimists. There’s no denying that Glaser’s fat bass grooves and staccato melodies turn frowns upside down and get a body moving.
