Eight Gigs: Tiaras
Sun., March 29, 5 p.m., The Hideaway, $8
One of San Francisco's latest indie buzz bands, Tiaras, actually has strong roots in Sacramento. Not only are a handful of its members originally from here, but the group released its debut record on local label Mt. St. Mtn. Tiaras plays dream-pop with bright guitars, surreal sunny melodies and gentle waves of garage rock. This is all well-covered territory. What makes the group unique is how earnest and offbeat it manages to be. Tiaras' influence palette covers bands like Tears For Fears and Wire. The band is only two years old, but the members are veterans, coming from Ganglians, Blasted Canyons and a slew of other San Fran indie groups. 2565 Franklin Boulevard, www.facebook.com/tiarasxo.
