Eight Gigs: The Milk Carton Kids
Mon., May 2, 7:30 p.m., Crest Theatre, $27-$75
The combined beauty of the harmonies produced by two distinct voices is hard to comprehend. Listeners think they’re hearing a singular character, but Joey Ryan and Kenneth Pattengale, the Grammy-nominated duo that makes up the Milk Carton Kids, have achieved a kind of musical perfection in seamlessly melding their voices, guitars and songwriting talents. As purveyors of traditional folk, their contemplative songs bring to mind musical twins from another era: the Everly Brothers and Simon and Garfunkel. Expect them to deliver at least one cover, Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here,” a current single release. 1013 K Street, www.themilkcartonkids.com.
