Eight Gigs: The Iguanas
Fri., Aug. 12, 7 p.m., Harlow’s Restaurant & Nightclub, $25-$27.50
The Iguanas have never performed in Sacramento; their destination was the now-shuttered Palms Playhouse. The New Orleans-based Iguanas have always had more than simply dance music, but after reviewing their musical offerings—which include Tex-Mex, R&B, Americana, zydeco, jazz, Cumbia and roots rock—one comes to expect more than hand claps at their shows. The musical influences that formed this quartet are as wide as their ambition, with the same four members who began playing together in the early ’90s still doubling on numerous instruments. 2708 J Street, www.iguanas.com.
