Eight Gigs: The Body
Fri., Nov. 4, 10:30 p.m., Harlow’s Restaurant & Nightclub, $12
Few things speak to self-confidence like being the metal band that set out to make “the grossest pop album of all time.” Forget that metal and pop are at categorical and idealogical odds. The Body’s No One Deserves Happiness doesn’t just break molds, it taps into a god nature of designing a world without preconception. The metal duo of Chip King and Lee Buford dabble in doom and sludge; it’s got that dramatic edge, but it’s also gospel recorded at the Grim Reaper’s timeshare. And then there’s the electronic percussion of crusted and busted 808s. Nothing is forbidden with this band.
