Eight Gigs: Survive

Netflix’s Stranger Things has put experimental-synth band Survive, of Austin, Texas, into the zeitgeist. Despite the band’s seven-year run it took eight layers of nostalgia with Steven-Spielberg-meets-vintage-John-Carpenter sci-fi goodness for the masses to become enamored. The Stranger Things placement greatly overshadowed Survive signing to seminal label Relapse and the announcement of its new record, RR7349. The title reads like a secret project from Area 51 in a forthcoming J.J. Abrams film, while the recordings within confirm that Survive should score said theoretical J.J.
