Eight Gigs: Suga Free
Thur., Dec. 17, 9 p.m., Harlow’s Restaurant & Nightclub, $20
California rap legacies have consistently been parading through town lately. Now based in Pomona, Suga Free came up in Compton rapping over production from DJ Quik in the late '90s. His seminal legacy put him in the company of fellow L.A. icons like Snoop Dogg, Xzibit and Oakland's Mac Dre. Suga Free is joined by B Legit, who also carries considerable clout as a member of E-40's The Click and was featured on 2pac's All Eyez On Me. Both artists' most popular songs, B-Legit's “M.O.B. (Money Over Bullshit)” and Suga Free's “Why You Bullshittin?”, pretty much guarantee no phony sets in Harlow's. 2708 J Street, www.facebook.com/staysugafree.
