Eight Gigs: Race to the Bottom

Local powerhouse rock quartet Race to the Bottom got their start over a decade ago when guitarist Joe Whitworth demoed some tunes in his home in Fallon, Nevada. After relocating to Sacramento and going through several lineup changes, the group has really honed its aesthetic, which brings to mind the meaty, driving rock ’n’ roll sound of the ’90s. The most recent addition to the group is vocalist Art Barrera, formerly of Latin alt-rock band Cambio De Piel.
