Eight Gigs: Pale Dian
Wed., June 15, 8 p.m., Starlite Lounge, $5
A non-Texan relying on generalizations about the state of various music scenes might suggest that Austin’s Pale Dian is more art-rock Marfa than rock ’n’ roll Austin, but what does this non-Texan know? The three-piece comes through in the wake of the release of Narrow Birth out on June 3. The album is chock full of ethereal vocals, spacey synths and general helter-skelter vibes; what starts off as a calculated unspooling delves and swoops into psychedelic territory. If you dig the Cocteau Twins or My Bloody Valentine, check this ambitious dark-pop trio out. Local bands Soft Science and All About Rockets share the bill. 1517 21st Street, https://paledian.bandcamp.com.
