Nef the Pharaoh is beyond localism typically associated with Bay Area rap. It was the NOLA bounce tribute “Big Tymin” that launched Vallejo’s Nef the Pharaoh into national acclaim, but his output since the 2015 single kept him in orbit. He’s taking a page from Sun Ra in finding that space is the place. It began with 2015’ Neffy Got Wings and went intergalactic with Fresh Outta Space 3.
