Eight Gigs: Maddie & Tae

When the words “Nashville,” “female duo,” and “country pop” all show up in the same sentence, there are few other acts that fit that bill better than Maddie & Tae. But don't mistake the pair of 20-year-olds for country confections; their breakout hit “Girl in a Country Song” is an indictment of the manic-pixie cowgirl (Daisy Dukes, an insatiable appetite for sitting shotgun in a pickup truck) that seems to show up on the lips of every bro-country artist out there.
