Eight Gigs: Mad Judy
Thurs., Aug. 13, Cafe Colonial, $7
This band will rock a funeral. Mad Judy's latest EP, Powertrash, is eclectic punk. The song “Foghorn at Your Funeral,” and its music video, showcases the band's simple, loud and manic pop-punk style. The video shows lead guitarist Joe Friday choke on a chocolate pastry and fall to the floor. What happens next is a punk-rock version of the movie Weekend at Bernie's. A fellow roommate finds the lifeless body, throws a house show, and Friday is tied to a chair, hoisted into the air, punched in the face and decorated with funny hats. Is he dead? Watch the video on the band's Facebook page to see. Sactos' Mob Rule will also perform. 3520 Stockton Boulevard, www.facebook.com/madjudy.
