There’s something intellectual about the house production of the U.K.’s Kidnap Kid. Sure, dancing yourself clean is a euphoric feeling, but don’t undersell the introspective opportunities of the dance floor. It’s been called IDM, an acronym for “intelligent dance music,” and there’s an ongoing second wave of it. Kidnap Kid is not necessarily offering that. There’s been deep house and acid house, and Kidnap Kid is not that either.
