Eight Gigs: Jason Galbraith Band

Local musician Jason Galbraith knows his way around a saxophone. Since jumping into the Sacramento scene in 2004, he's lent his horn talents to Close To You (a Carpenter's tribute band), SuperHuey (a Huey Lewis tribute band), as well as improvisational jazz-funk-fusion outfit the Bumptet. But his real heart and soul is in his solo material—or rather the jazz outfit he fronts, the Jason Galbraith Band, which pulls heavily from hard-bop and experimental jazz from the 1960s. His energy really comes out here. He's an emotional and passionate player who breathes more feeling into his horn than a good number of singers put into their voices. 1400 E Street, www.jasongalbraith.bandcamp.com.
