Eight Gigs: Instagon
Fri., May 8, 8 p.m., Shine, $5
Local experimental musician Lob named his group Instagon because every song is made up on the spot and is a once-in-a-lifetime experience—in other words, “instantly gone.” Lob is the bass player and only official member of the group—it's a constantly rotating band that mixes jazz, noise, rock and whatever elements the members of the lineup bring to the table at any given show. Lob's been doing it for more than 600 shows and this coming show is Lob's special 50th birthday party. Instagon will be playing two sets, and Lob will do some poetry reading. Playing in Instagon this Friday will be Dr. Obvious, Drew Walker, John Keeling, Bot and Brandon Amelio. 1400 E Street, www.facebook.com/instagon.
