Gravy Nation doesn’t appear to be committed to any one musical genre; instead, it seems to lift bits and pieces from many different sources. Morsels of grunge are mixed with Stokes-era guitars. Tidbits of soul are nonchalantly partnered up with punk-sneer vocals. Just when Gravy Nation has pinned itself down—It’s pop! No, no, it’s alt!—the music changes up, and suddenly, bubble gum rock infused with ’60s psychedelia have taken center stage.
