Eight Gigs: Father

Atlanta rapper Father makes bangers, and catchy ones at that. As the head of Awful Records and a new figure in Atlanta, he brings an alternative voice to party scene. That’s not to say he doesn’t make party music. His 2015 record Who’s Gonna Get Fucked First? is an unapologetic record about sex, but with more self-reflection than the title might suggest. His latest, I’m a Piece of Shit, goes full on. It’s a really deep, vulnerable album, full of blunt honesty, regrets, unflattering self-discovery and low-key, surreal beats.
